Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces beef steaks (sirloin or ribeye) Look for a vibrant red color and good marbling.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil Can substitute for butter for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter Use olive oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 cups cooked black beans Heat with minced garlic for flavor.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 lb French fries Can use frozen fries for convenience.
  • 1 tbsp butter For frying eggs.
  • Tomato slices For garnishing.
  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by frying the French fries in hot oil until they turn a crispy golden brown and have a satisfying crunch. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and let them cook slowly, stirring occasionally until they are deep golden brown.
  3. Season the steaks with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Heat oil in a separate pan over high heat and sear the steaks for about 4–5 minutes on each side for a perfect medium-rare.
  4. In another saucepan, warm black beans with minced garlic and season with salt and pepper. Stir until well combined and heated through.
  5. In the same skillet where you cooked the fries, add a tablespoon of butter and fry the eggs until the whites are set.
  6. Present the steak atop a bed of caramelized onions next to a generous serving of rice, black beans, fries, and a fried egg. Garnish with fresh parsley and tomato slices.

Notes

Pairs well with a fresh garden salad or a glass of red wine. For an adventurous side, consider serving it with savory garlic bread. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
