Ingredients
  

For the Beef and Sauce
  • 1 lb beef strips or stew beef Choose well-marbled cuts for best flavor.
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • to taste Salt & black pepper
For the Fries
  • 4 large potatoes, cut into fries Starchy varieties like Russet work best.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Slaw
  • 2 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 1 carrot julienned
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 lime, sliced

Method
 

Cooking the Fries
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss the potato strips with olive oil and a sprinkle of salt. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Cooking the Beef
  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent, then stir in minced garlic. Add the beef strips and brown them on all sides.
Simmering the Sauce
  1. Add chopped tomato, tomato paste, paprika, chili flakes, and mixed herbs to the beef. Let it simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes.
Making the Slaw
  1. Combine shredded cabbage and julienned carrots in a bowl with vinegar and a pinch of salt. Toss well to coat.
Plating
  1. On a large plate, arrange the crispy fries, topped with the spicy beef and fresh slaw. Place a lime wedge on the side.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For freezing, keep in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
