Cake Base

  • 1 tsp baking powder Helps the cake rise.
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda Adds fluffy texture.
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon For warmth and depth of flavor.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Melted for richness in the batter.
  • 2 large eggs These bind the cake together.
  • 1 cup milk Any milk works, though whole adds creaminess.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples thinly. Toss them with a tablespoon of sugar and cinnamon, then set aside.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, mix together the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and milk until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.
  4. Fold in the apple slices gently into the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. For an extra crispy topping, sprinkle a bit of coarse sugar on top before baking.
