Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter helps create a rich and smooth texture
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adds just the right amount of sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract for depth of flavor
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour the main structure for the cookies
  • 1 cup finely chopped almonds adds crunch and enhances the nutty flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt balances sweetness and enhances flavors
  • Powdered sugar for dusting adds a sweet finish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), allowing it to warm up while you prepare your dough.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy and light in color, which usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract, ensuring it’s well combined with the butter-sugar mix.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, chopped almonds, and salt together. Slowly add this mixture to the creamy butter mixture, blending until everything is just combined.
  5. Take small amounts of dough and roll them into small logs, shaping each into a crescent moon shape and placing them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Place the cookies in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are lightly golden and firm to the touch.
  2. Once the cookies have cooled slightly, sprinkle them generously with powdered sugar for that classic finish.

Notes

Chill the dough if it seems sticky while shaping the cookies. Use fresh almonds for the best flavor. Keep an eye on the cookies as they bake to avoid overbaking.
