Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and active dry yeast; let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture and honey to the dry ingredients, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Fold in the mixed dried fruits and nuts until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it into a greased loaf pan.
- Cover again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow it to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Ensure your milk is warm, not hot, as hot milk can kill the yeast. Experiment with different combinations of dried fruits and nuts to find your perfect blend. Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing to maintain its chewy texture.
